Alexis Soloski is a prize-winning New York Times culture reporter covering television, theater, film, podcasts and more, since 2007, winning the 2020 George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism.
In her own words, on what she covers: "I’m drawn to storytelling across form and genre. I have a particular interest in comedies, women’s stories, explorations of sex and gender and works that exceed established categories."
She is former lead theater critic at The Village Voice, where she made her professional writing debut as a college senior.
She has taught at Barnard College and at Columbia University, where she earned her PhD in English and comparative literature. She earned her BA from Yale in theater and humanities.
Her debut novel *Here in the Dark* was published in 2023 and her second novel *Flashout* is forthcoming August 5 2025.
She lives in Brooklyn with her family.
